Snapshot: S&T and NIST Projects in Support of NYPD Explosive Trace Detection
DHS S&T recently took part in a demonstration of the NYPD’s FIDO X-3 Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) system, under the sponsorship of the Secondary Screening Program led by S&T Program Manager Dr. Laura Parker. This event showcased work S&T funded by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to optimize NYPD trace detection processes in these areas.

Deepening Our Understanding of Internet Outages
We recently initiated the Predict, Assess Risk, Identify (and Mitigate) Disruptive Internet-scale Network Events program, which funds research to develop innovative technologies that will reveal more about Network/internet-scale disruptive events (NIDEs). NIDEs may cause a loss or degradation of network (not necessarily internet) service and often follow natural disasters, geo-political events or the mass scale re-routing of internet traffic.
