Horizon scanning is a systematic process through which potential threats, opportunities, and likely future developments can be identified before they come to fruition or reach mass adoption. DHS Science and Technology's (S&T) Tech Scouting and Transition Division (TST) is using this process to find the next wave of technologies for the homeland security enterprise (HSE).
