Washington, DC –Maryland-area small businesses in the research and development domain will have an opportunity to meet with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program this week. The event will be held 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the University of Maryland (Riggs Alumni Center), 7801 Alumni Drive, College Park, Maryland on September 20  as part of the National SBIR 2019 Road Tour.

“We are continually seeking new opportunities to engage with innovators and the SBIR Road Tour provides DHS SBIR representatives the chance to meet directly with innovative small businesses and discuss DHS technology needs,” said William N. Bryan, Senior Official Performing the Duties of the DHS Under Secretary for Science and Technology. “I encourage small businesses to meet with us on this road tour stop and learn about opportunities to help deliver cutting-edge technology solutions to safeguard the American public through the SBIR program.”

The Road Tour, sponsored by the Small Business Administration, is a national outreach effort that connects small businesses with funding opportunities provided through federal SBIR/Small Business Technology Transfer programs. Small businesses interested in federal research and development programs are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to meet DHS SBIR Program representatives and learn how to help address the homeland security challenges facing the nation.
